Statement Jewelry

Faris: Designer Faris Du Graf originally began her jewelry line four years ago as an experiment in her basement, but thankfully she decided to make her brand of unique, geometric designs more widely available. The entire line has a distinctive POV, but each design stands out in its own right, from these lash-like fringe metal earrings ($195) to the Restring that fits like an hourglass sculpture on the wearer’s finger ($98).
Laura Lombardi: If you’re a fan of gold and brass jewelry, you’ll probably find everything you’ve ever wanted from this Brooklyn-based brand. Laura Lombardi has come into what you’d call “Instagram fame” over the last couple of years thanks to the very photogenic Curve earrings ($98) and reworked Ruota hoops ($150). But the label also makes a lot of understated necklaces, cuffs, and earrings as well.
Machete: This young Atlanta-based brand became statement jewelry a Racked office favorite for its studs and hoops, plus chic hair ties and circle hair clips in fun pastels and tortoise acetate. Not only is the collection really affordable — like $9-to-$78 affordable — but the jewelry and hair accessories are also super lightweight, so you can wear them all day. Plus! They’re all made with high-grade, Italian-imported materials that are natural and renewable.
Roxanne Assoulin: This New York-based line (founded by Rosie Assoulin’s mother-in-law) is such a treat. The entire collection is reminiscent of camp-made friendship bracelets or a gold mine of good costume jewelry, from the rainbow-colored chokers ($120) and beaded stretch bracelets ($45) to the mismatched Swarovski crystals clip earrings ($120). It’s all fun without being too over-the-top — or, as the brand puts it, “an uncomplicated indulgence.”
Sophie Monet: It’s rare to find a jewelry brand that offers something totally new and unique, but this Venice, California-based line is doing just that. Designer Sophie Monet marries blocky, Matisse-like shapes with materials like exotic wood, precious stones, and metals (sustainable whenever possible). From rings and bracelets to earrings and necklaces, nothing here will run you over $200.
Sorelle: Among (many) other things, this edgy Brooklyn-based line is known for its hoop earrings; on the site right now, you’ll find 10 (!) different iterations that all play with proportion, shape, and metal mixing. The selection also includes other classic pieces, including drop earrings, rings, and bangles, that range from $100 to $480.
Wkndla: If you’re into big, quirky, sculptural jewelry, look no further than the Los Angeles-based Wkndla. Each piece is handmade and inspired by art and architecture, like these asymmetrical mobile earrings ($240) that were influenced by Alexander Calder’s mobiles and Henri Matisse’s cut-outs. More involved pieces like those are on the pricier side, but a lot of what you’ll find is under $100.
